PROBLEM: university life could become academically demanding, so much so that some students may present stress indicators in situations that are common such as meeting certain requirements and following certain behaviors. At the same time, this environment provides the possibility of socializing with new subjects and allows to establish lasting relationships, help to have a better perception of oneself, and together the possibility that through this educational process improve job options and can have a better quality of life. OBJECTIVE: determine the association between levels of quality of life and levels of academic stress in psychology students from the public university of Guatemala. METHOD: the approach was quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and predictive correlational in scope. The sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience, and the data was collected through a digitally integrated questionnaire, RESULTS: obtaining 483 university students of Guatemala. A linear regression was performed with which the following equation was obtained: Quality of life = 127,053 - .777 (academic stress), the model was significant F (1, 481) = 183 p = < .001, which represents R = 52.50% of the variation. CONCLUSION: stress can negatively affect the quality of life of students, the results are not decisive, but will help the generation of contextualized theory.
